City of Arcata Historical Resources Survey, Inventory & History Talks

Client: City of Arcata, CA., 2012-2013


This multifaceted project updated a survey conducted in 1972, and expanded the historic context from the 1930s into mid-century modernism and the first post WWII subdivisions constructed in Humboldt County. Ms. Guerra and Ms. Doniger conducted a series of public history talks that introduced new architectural styles and concepts such as cultural landscapes.  The project research incorporated the digitization of old forms and records, now a part of the planning department database, and the production of a comprehensive architectural design guide.
